SFA068 - Datel zkázy: Live at Festival Ha!wangarda - Kraków

Datel zkázy (The Woodpecker of Doom) is a sub-group, side-kick and extra-marital affair of Sova smrti (The Owl of Death). Both groups work on the same principle: all the sound materials have their origin in the banjo, sampled and processed by the electronics of Jan Faix. In Sova smrti, Tomáš Mika plays the banjo, with Ian Mikyska acting as his woodpeckerish banjo countepart. To coincide with the release of Sova smrti's eponymous debut album on polí5, we present a recording of Datel zkázy's performance at the legendary Bomba club in Kraków, where they performed as part of the Ha!wangarda Festival. The cover design, as in the case of the Sova smrti, was made by Anastasia Vrublevská.

Ian Mikyska: banjo da gamba
Jan Faix: live processing, sampling

SFA064 - Klarneton: Panoptykum

The new album of Klarneton project "Panoptykum" is the conceptual compilation of the mostly improvised music for clarinet. Features of clarinet – a wind instrument, which can be attributed to academic, jazz and folk – are demonstrated in the all sorts of combinations and moody settings. As much as eight musicians were involved in the presented dozen of tracks.
"Tracklist was formed by prantsype of  pyramid, moving from the fragile and small till monumental, sustainable. I advise for adepts pay attention on the duets with saxophonist Vital Appow (ex- "Rational Diet") and bassist Eric Arlou-Shymkus (Vuraj) especially. Eric's instrument was multiplied till the infinity in the last track", - says the compiler of the album, clarinetist Viktar Siamashka.

SFA038 - Shibuya Motors – Furrows Of The Night

On their second official release, Bratislava-based weird avant-core electro-acoustic duo draws crackling epileptic lines between composition and spontaneous improvisation, frenetically throwing echoes of death metal, jazz, free improv, glitch, noise and distorted techno beats into the sewer. Furious and fast as their live shows: energetic explorations of the dark corners of the subconscious, although not omitting surprising elements of distinctive musical humor. To be played at maximum volume level.

Slávo Krekovič: electronics
Miro Tóth: alto saxophone, vocals

SFA031 - Didi&Pedro - RHIZ

Didi Kern: drums, percussion

Petr Vrba: trumpet, vibrating speakers

The Viennese drummer Didi Kern (bulbul, broken heart
collector, fuckhead) sometimes plays a trumpet. The Prague trumpetist Petr Vrba
(los amargados, iq+1, rouilleux) sometimes plays drums. After meeting two years
ago on stage they occasionally meet and work with joy and love to create space
where static structures quickly change, where silence and noise are a pleasure,
and sound is equal to music. Delight for those who enjoy live, changeable,
sometimes smooth but mostly raw music.

SFA008 - The Pololáníks: Záspě

In the world of free improvisation, solo projects and duos seem to be the
norm, while larger groupings are usually reserved for one-off projects and
special occasions. Being a regular five-piece band, then, makes The
Pololáníks something of an oddity, along with the fact that the quintet
meets for regular garage rehearsals, just like an aspiring indie band would
– except, of course, there is no repertoire per se, just an infinitely
developing interplay of five distinct musical personalities. The Pololáníks'
core instruments are trombone, double bass, recorders, guitar/saxophone/
clarinet and laptop, but other, more peculiar DIY instruments and found
objects (e.g. bowed CPU heatsinks) make frequent appearance.

The compilation presented here pairs excerpts from the band's very first
public performance with a selection from recent concerts, including joint
session with Count Portmon (tape players) and Ken Ganfield (modular synth).
The selection of tracks is meant as a sort of retrospective preceding the
band's first proper studio album, which the quintet hopes to record shortly.

Vít Kořínek: trombone
Martin Lauer: double bass
Zbyněk Rohlík: recorders
Martin Strakoš: guitar/saxophone/clarinet
Pavel Bakič: laptop
(All - voices, found objects, various percussion and DIY instruments)

Tracks:
1. Hlacenstvo 4:45
2. Rabulista 6:10
3. Šantala 15:45 (feat. Count Portmon - tape players, synthesizers and Ken Ganfield - modular synthesizer)
4. Halže 6:45
5. Žrec 11:21
6. Žamputář 3:12

Recorded live in Prague: 8.10.2011 - Rybanaruby (1,5); 11.2.2013 - K4 (3); 23.2.2013 - Final Club (2,4,6)
